North Dakota Program Help & Support

All schools in North Dakota participate in a Continuous Improvement Process. Continuous improvement means examining a school’s current reality including demographics, culture, technology, finances, and academic progress, among many other factors. In addition, continuous improvement means looking into the future and predicting what may change – what will be different a year from now, or 10 years from now.

North Dakota’s continuous improvement system includes the administration of the Student Engagement Survey and the creation of a Strategy Map – a 3 to 5-year plan for the school. The surveys and Strategy Maps are important measures of school quality and must be administered every year. The Department of Public Instruction administers and monitors these tools via Cognia’s online delivery platform, eProve.

Schools and districts can use the tabs on this page to navigate to helpful resources on administering, using, and interpreting these Student Engagement Surveys and Strategy Maps to enhance their school’s continuous improvement plans and guide school improvement initiatives.
